Extraordinary hotels

After the fall of the Iron Curtain, abroad became accessible to ordinary Russian tourists. They quickly appreciated the advantages of a foreign service over a domestic one. Moreover, our traditional resorts lost to competitors not only in terms of service quality, but also in terms of prices. After all, along with elite European resorts, it has become possible to have a "budget" vacation in Turkey or Egypt with no less comfort.

It was these countries that formed the main competition for traditional Soviet resorts. In order to revive the lost popularity and bring back domestic tourists, unusual methods and fresh ideas were needed. "The new is the well–forgotten old" - that's what the creators of the Aquatoria Summer Club hotel in Yeysk decided.

The idea of a sports hotel is not new. A similar concept was created back in 1950 by Club Med. At that time, former Belgian water polo champion Gerard Blitz opened a hotel in Mallorca for outdoor enthusiasts and sports enthusiasts. In order to be able to spend some time in such a hotel, it was necessary to pay an annual fee, so the idea of the club appeared.

Similar sports and tourist bases existed in Russia. During the years of Soviet rule, thousands of holiday homes were opened, providing active citizens with a roof with minimal amenities, allowing them to play their favorite sports and visit interesting places. Summer pioneer camps were built for the same purpose. So after perestroika, there were a huge number of abandoned or quietly dying camps and camp sites in the picturesque corners of Russia.

The sports club-hotel "Aquatoria Leta" appeared on the very shore of the Sea of Azov on the site of the previously existing recreation and tourism center "Cosmos". But the entire hotel complex had to be built almost from scratch. The old Soviet-built buildings were dismantled to the ground, and a year and two months later a new building with 82 rooms appeared in their place. The reconstruction of the hotel required about 5 million dollars. But investors were not deterred by the huge costs, the lack of infrastructure around the hotel, or the seasonality of the work, because Russia is not Spain and the holiday season can only last from May to September.

Management pays great attention to the quality of service, it is not inferior to the Western one. Today, the club hotel has its own regular visitors, and the occupancy rate in the season is at least 85%. Experience has shown that conceptual hotels can successfully compete with foreign ones.
